Before Kanye West infamously crashed the 2009 VMAs, there was ODB at the 1998 Grammys. ODB got on the stage as Shawn Colvin was getting ready to receive her
Award for song of the year to deliver a message to the world. Earlier in the day, the Wu had lost rap album of the year to Diddy, and he was a little upset for various reasons. This moment ended up giving birth to one of Hip Hop’s most famous speeches:
“I went and bought me an outfit today that costed a lot of money, today
You know what I mean, because I figured that Wu-Tang was gonna win
I don't know how y'all see it, but when it comes to the children, Wu-Tang is for the children, we teach the children
You know what I mean, Puffy is good but WU-TANG IS THE BEST!

This is where the famous phrase “Wu-Tang is for the children” was born.
To continue celebrating the undeniable legacy of one of Hip Hop’s most unique voices, we partnered with the Ol’ Dirty Bastard estate and photographer Gary Hershorn to tell the story of this infamous moment at the 1998 Grammys on a 33 HI. The sneakers feature a luxurious burgundy wool upper accented by white leather as a callback to the outfit that he wore that night. They feature gold metal accenting as a nod to the Cartier glasses he wore. The white laces feature a tassel mechanism that you can screw on or off as a tribute to the white scarf he wore as well. Lastly, the sneakers come in a special black and gold box featuring the work of Gary Hershorn, who captured the infamous moment. The Ewing x ODB 33 HI is now available in limited quantities, but don’t worry; they won’t cost you a lot.

I have been a Wu fan since they stepped on the scene. So much so, those closest to me have called me "Wu" since I was 14. 28yrs later & my love for them have only gotten greater. I first bought the yellow, blue & white Rogues (ODB) back in 2022. I debated on these for a while because I wasn't sure if I'd like this exact style, boy was i wrong! Ewing shoes are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn! & as a mother, I'm all about comfort. I will forever be a customer, even when I'm old & gray. Lol

To get to the heart of it, I am an amputee and the leg I have, I lost some of the foot in the accident that caused me to lose my leg. I have a weak ankle and (obviously) a weak foot. I found Ewing shoes about six years ago and it's the ONLY shoe I wear. My husband is a truck driver so their shoes have been through horrible abuse and always hold up ( 33HI"s). This time I got these. The best they offer and they are incredible shoes! Just a bit better built than the slightly less costly 33Hi's and they are a dream to wear. If you need ankle support I highly recommend this shoe! I'm a woman and there is no one that makes a basketball shoe worth a darn for ladies, including Ewing. However I wear an 8 1/2 women's and a man's size 7 is perfect. These are built extremely well, great cushioning around the ankle and richly colored too. My one complaint is that the shoe came laced with and extra pair BUT they put the dumbest tassels on the tips so you can't remove the shoelace! I ended up cutting them off and using the second pair. But that's it, a phenomenal shoe all the way around and worth the cost, even though it's a wee bit high.
