Patrick Ewing arrived in New York as the #1 overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft and became the most revered player in Knicks history. A dominant force from his college days, he went on to earn 11 All-Star selections, the 1986 Rookie of the Year award, and two Olympic Gold Medals — in 1984 and 1992. His impact on the game was cemented when he was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History and inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.

In 1989, Patrick Ewing made history by becoming the first professional basketball player to launch his own shoe company. The debut model, the Rebound, was worn briefly that season, but it was the 33 HI that truly put Ewing Athletics on the map. The shoe became a street staple in New York City and spread across Europe and Asia, appearing on album covers and in music videos of the era. Patrick wore it during his best professional season in 1990, averaging 28.6 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks per game while shooting 55% from the field.
What started as a basketball shoe company quickly grew into a full lifestyle brand. Ewing Athletics expanded its footwear line to include cross trainers, running shoes, and even hiking boots. The apparel line grew from basic tees and tank tops into a full clothing range, including leather jackets. The brand also made its mark internationally, sponsoring European League basketball teams and producing their uniforms — truly a global athletic brand built from the ground up by one of the game's legends.
Throughout the early 1990s, Patrick debuted a new signature model at the start of each NBA season. The Center arrived in 1991, followed by the Concept in 1992. That same summer, a special Eclipse colorway in White/Red/Blue — with a #6 instead of his signature #33 — was worn to honor the historic 1992 Dream Team at the Olympic Games. The Focus dropped in 1993 and remains one of the most sought-after models to this day. The Domain and Image followed for 1994 and 1995, before the Empire closed out the decade as Ewing Athletics' final release of the 1990s.
As the internet era took hold, a global cult following emerged for vintage Ewing footwear, with collectors and sneaker heads hunting down original pairs from all corners of the world. That groundswell of demand led Patrick to officially relaunch Ewing Athletics in 2012 — and the response was overwhelming. Today, the brand continues to honor its roots as the first independent, athlete-owned basketball brand, staying true to its heritage while introducing new generations to the legacy of #33.
My first ever pair of Ewings and I'll definitely be getting more. This is a shoe made out of quality premium material at an affordable price point. I also love how it's not as heavy as it looks
I’m really very happy with this purchase, these shoes are really very beautiful and of great quality, I highly recommend the purchase on this site beside I will certainly order other shoes
Love them, great shoes. I’ve ordered the Red Deathrow and rogue before and the quality is quite exceptional. Since it’s winter here in Alaska and the weather where I’m at in Alaska is similar to the greater northeast these winter shoes are perfect
